Rollins defeated Florida Tech 4-1 on Saturday afternoon

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 18, 2023) - Rollins salvaged a win in the final game of the SSC series against Florida Tech on Saturday, winning 4-1. They improve to 18-11 overall, with a 4-8 record in SSC play.

For the third time in the series, it was Rollins taking control early. With two outs in the bottom of the first, Brie Michelli singled to left field. Tayllor Waters did her job from the cleanup spot next, launching a double off the wall to score her teammate and make it 1-0.

The second and third innings were quiet as Emily MacMullen and Allison Platon dominated each team's lineup. Things took a turn for the worse in the top of the fourth when Mikayla Lewin put a ball in the jetstream and carried over the fence for a solo home run to tie the game. However, MacMullen would buckle down and retire the next nine batters to keep her team in the game.

The bottom of the sixth opened up the game for the Tars. With one out, Grace Germer singled. After a fly out, Waters and Jaden Walker each walked to load the bases with two gone. Tech tried a pitching change, but Claire Long drew a walk as well, brining in the go-ahead run. Sarah Young then added some insurance, roping a line drive into right that scored both Waters and Walker to make the final of 4-1.

Rollins ended the game in the seventh with a beautiful double play from Michelli, who stepped on third for a force out and fire to first to end the game.

MacMullen twirled a gem in this one, going the distance with a final line of seven innings pitched, three hits, one run, one walk, and three strikeouts.

Next up for the Tars is a road doubleheader on Tuesday, March 21 in St. Augustine against Flagler.
