WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2023) - The Rollins Tars wrapped up their annual Baseball Week with a 7-0 shutout of visiting Notre Dame College on Saturday. The win moves the Tars to 15-5 on the season.
After starter
Kieran Casey escaped a bases loaded jam in the top of the first, Rollins was able to take the lead in the second.
Drew Howard drove in Jimmy Theis and
Spencer Sarringar with a double to left, and was brought in himself when
Joey Rubin also doubled to make it 3-0.
Rollins added two more runs in the third when Sarringar walked with the bases loaded, followed by a sac fly from Howard that brought in
Parker Smith.
Nick Berger was called on to pitch the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings which he did effectively, allowing just one hit.
Jimmy Theis added a sac fly in the seventh to make the final of 7-0.
Spencer Mangum had two innings of scoreless relief before ceding to
Austin Long, who tossed a flawless ninth inning.
Howard was 2-2 on the day and reach based three times while driving in two and scoring once. Berger had four punchouts in the win.
Next up for Rollins is a midweek contest in St. Augustine against the Flagler Saints. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 15.
