MELBOURNE, Fla. - Thirty-four men's soccer student-athletes are recognized as ALL-SSC for the 2023 season. Among them are five members of the Tars. The Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year awards are presented by
College Ave Student Loans, and voting for the awards is conducted among the league's men's soccer coaches.

Jorge Lameiras was an easy choice for the honor. The junior from Brazil exploded on to the scene this year, leading the Tars in goals with eleven to go along with five assists. He was one of five players to see action in all 16 games this year, and his 1,166 minutes were fourth-most on the team. Lameiras opened the year by scoring in eight straight games as the Tars went unbeaten into the month of October. He was the SSC leader in shots (51), shots on goal (25), and points (27) while ranking second in goals and fifth in assists. Prior to this season, Lameiras had not scored a goal in his career.Â
Senior
Nazar Tsaruk garnered 1st-team accolades as a midfielder. He appeared in 14 matches, and finished second on the club in goals with ten, while adding four assists. Tsaruk had multi-goal efforts against Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle, and recorded a point in ten contests. He is on a current four-game goal streak heading into the Tars' SSC semi-final matchup with Florida Tech on Thursday.Â
Hayden Judge ranked as one of the top defenders in the league this season, and was also a first-team selection. Judge was the key piece of a tenacious Tars backline that had five shutouts this year, and allowed 1.31 goals per game. Judge saw action in 15 games and played 1,240 minutes. In addition to his defensive prowess, the sophomore from Tampa also scored a career-high three goals as a featured player on Tars corner kicks. He twice was named the SSC Defensive Player of the Week this season. . Â
Senior
Jari Polm was the lone Tar to be named second-team, earning a midfielder spot. the German was a constant in the Tars lineup, starting every game this year. His controlled the team on both offense and defense from midfield, coordinating offensive attacks and defensive strategy. Polm also found himself in front of the net a number of times, managing three goals and three assists on the year. This is his second All-SSC accolade, following his 1st team selection last year.Â
The third team saw
Hayden Smethurst join the list of honorees. The Briton played brilliantly in for
Keith Buckley's team, starting all 16 games and playing the second-most minutes on the team with 1,304. Smethurst is a professional pest, ruining other team's scoring chances by constantly harassing them along the sidelines. He managed to find the net against Saint Leo to close out the regular season, giving him goals in each of the last two years. This is the first All-SSC selection for the junior, though he did earn an All-Region nod last year.Â
David Polanco, a forward from Barry, collects Offensive Player of the Year accolades after leading the led the league in goals (12), goals per game (1.00), points per game (2.08), and game-winning goals (4).

Barry's Iker Berruezo is named Defensive Player of the Year. The Garinoain, Spain product led a Buccaneers defense that allowed the fewest goals in SSC play (3) and ended the regular season with eight shutouts.

Rafael Furlani honors Barry as the league's first Goalkeeper of the Year. The junior from São Paulo, Brazil, registered eight shutouts in 13 games. He led the SSC in goals against average (.437) and save percentage (.821). He allowed just five scores in 1,030 minutes in net, leading Barry to the program's 10 wins.

Yannik Pohlmann from the University of Tampa collects Freshman of the Year honors in 2023. The midfielder from Hannover, Germany, started all 15 games for the Spartans during the regular season. He gave his team over 1,000 minutes on the pitch, picking up four points off four assists.Â

Barry garners the SSC Staff of the Year
3 recognition following the program's second consecutive SSC regular-season championship, sixth overall. The Buccaneers' staff, led by head coach Petsa Ivanovic, piloted the program to a 10-4-1 overall record with a 9-1-0 mark in conference play. Barry led SSC play in goals for (25), goals against (3), scoring margin (2.20), and save percentage (.850).
