TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2023) – The Rollins volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at third-ranked Tampa on Friday, 25-16, 25-10, 25-13. With the loss, the Tars fall to 14-13 on the year, 6-10 in conference play, while the Spartans improve to 25-1 overall, 16-1 in SSC matches.
Jadyn Troutman had a team-high eight kills while
Adriana Lopez picked up a team-leading eight digs and
Natalie Horsley dished out a team-best 17 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- A 3-0 spurt gave the Tars an 11-10 lead midway through the opening set.
- Tampa answered with an 11-2 rally that put the Spartans up 21-13 and UT held on from there for a 25-16 win.
Set Two
- Tampa opened the second set on a 7-0 run that eventually turned into an 18-7 lead.
- The Tars couldn't string together points late in the set and the Spartans took the frame, 25-10.
Set Three
- The third set saw Rollins keep things close in the early stages, trailing by a score of 11-8.
- A 6-1 burst for Tampa put the home team up 17-9 and the Spartans would go on to win the set, 25-13, completing the 3-0 sweep.
