SAINT LEO, Fla. (October 7-9, 2023) - Rollins traveled west to Saint Leo for the weekend to take part in the Saint Leo Invitational. The three-day event featured a dfferent opponent for the Tars on each day.
Day One
Rollins was matched up with Hillsborough Community College, the #1 ranked junior college in the country, on Friday afternoon.
Polina Vlasova earned a hard-fought win against Catherine Goldman in three sets. The Tar senior battled the Hawk freshman to a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 final. Freshman
Nancy Liu also needed an extra set, and finished with a similar result in her match against Adeola Greatorex, 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.

The two squads played in five doubles matches as well, with Rollins managing a pair of victories.

Nina Mitrofanova dispatched Goldman/Dudova with a 6-4 effort.

Polina Vlasova were the other victors, taking down Anter Hernandez/Aya Matsunaga by a score of 6-3.
Day Two
Rollins matched up with the A-team from Saint Leo on Saturday
The Tars managed one doubles win in four matches against the Lions.

Milla Falster defeated Nicole Dufour/Kamilya Shainlina, 6-4.Â
Rollins was able to exact their revenge in singles play, going 5-3 in eight matches against Saint Leo.Â
Liu and Dufour put together a wild one, with the Rollins freshman winning 7-6 (4), 2-6, 10-1. She was joined in the win column by
Stella Fruijtier who beat Shailina 6-2, 6-3.Â

Maria McKay was a 6-4, 6-2 winner versus Catherine Rabatin. The other two winners were
Nina Mitrofanova (6-4, 6-4 over Cheyenne Houkes) and
Eve Wasil (6-2, 6-3 over Arianna Bettinelli).
Two of the singles losses required a tiebreaker. Paris Marozzelli beat
Annie Sallick 6-0, 4-6, 10-2 and Luzia Obermeier outlasted
Polina Vlasova 6-3, 4-6, 12-10.Â

Day Three
The final day of the event saw Rollins matchup with St. Thomas
Rollins swept all three doubles matches. Groves/Mitrofanova defeated Ciancaglini/Ibanez 6-1. Court two saw McKay/Falster handle Fullerton/Burgos by a score of 6-4. The last match on court three went a little long, but had the same result with Wasil/Vlasova winning 7-6 (5) over Seemann/Costa.Â
The two teams split singles with three wins each. Fruijtier had a tough fight on court three, defeating Seemann 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. Mtrofanova had an easy time on number five, winning 6-1, 6-0. On court six, Wasil also needed a tiebreak in her win, going 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 over Costa to secure the overall match win.
Next up for the Tars is playing host for the Rollins Hidden Dual, which will take place on campus October 20-22.
