FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2023) – The Rollins volleyball team came up short on Saturday, falling 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 28-26) at Nova Southeastern. The loss drops the Tars to 10-9 on the year, 5-6 in conference play, while the Sharks improve to 11-6, 7-4 in SSC matches.
Jadyn Troutman had a team-high nine kills while
Lana Gerard and
Emily Diaz each chipped in with seven kills.
Natalie Horsley compiled a team-high 29 assists and
Adriana Lopez collected a match-best 13 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- Rollins held an early 4-1 lead in the opening set, but a 7-1 run put NSU up, 8-5.
- A 12-1 burst gave the Sharks a 21-8 lead and they didn't look back, winning the set by a score of 25-12.
Set Two
- Set two saw the home team hold a comfortable 23-18 lead before the Tars rattled off four of the next five points to make it 24-22.
- Nova Southeastern was able to hold off Rollins just enough, winning the frame, 25-22.
Set Three
- The Tars started strong in the third, earning an early 5-1 lead and maintaining a comfortable advantage until the latter stages, leading by five as late as 22-17.
- NSU then caught fire, scoring the next six points to storm ahead, 23-22.
- After trading sideouts, the Sharks had match point at 24-23, but a kill from Gerard kept the Blue and Gold in it.
- After a Troutman kill gave the Tars set point, Nova Southeastern scored the next two points to earn a second match point at 26-25.
- Another Troutman kill evened things at 26, but the Sharks took the next two points to win the set, 28-26, completing the 3-0 sweep.

The Tars will take a break from conference play to compete in the South Region Crossover Tournament next weekend, October 20-21 in Orlando. Matchups for the event will be announced in the coming days.
