Rollins Tripped Up by Seahawks

The Blue and Gold took home four events wins

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2023) – The Rollins women's swimming team fell to 1-2 on the season with a 170-92 defeat at Keiser, the top-ranked team in the NAIA, on Friday afternoon. The victory pushes the Seahawks to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Tars' team of Alonna Clark, Abigayle Wood, Lauren Diehl, and Amelia Kondal clocked a second-place time of 1:52.13 in the opening event, the 200-yard medley relay.­
  • Elliot Fox earned a third-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:09.37.
  • Clark posted a third-place time of 1:59.52 in the 200-yard freestyle, and Elizabeth Sander made it three straight third-place finishes for the Tars with a 1:01.54 in the 100-yard backstroke.
  • Wood got the first second-place finish in an individual event with a 1:08.78 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
  • Diehl recorded the first victory of the day for the Blue and Gold, posting a time of 2:13.25 in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • Kondal was third in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 25.37.
  • Not long after, Kondal came back to earn the second event win of the day, finishing the 100-yard freestyle in 55.02.
  • Fox posted a third-place time of 2:14.98 in the 200-yard backstroke, and Wood and Katherine Canty took second and third in the 200-yard breaststroke, respectively, with times of 2:30.93 and 2:31.98.
  • Rollins' third win of the day came from Clark's performance in the 500-yard freestyle where she clocked a winning time of 5:19.46.
  • Diehl took home another win with a 4:46.95 in the 400-yard individual medley.
  • The quartet of Clark, Sander, Leora Rose, and Kondal earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:42.19.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will be back in the pool on Friday, Oct. 13, when they travel to NAIA No. 1 Keiser to face the defending NAIA National Champions in a 3 p.m. meet.
