WINTER PARK, Fla. (Sept. 17, 2022) – The Rollins volleyball team fell to visiting Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon, dropping the match in three sets (25-22, 25-23, 25-19). The Tars are now 3-9 on the season and 1-3 in SSC play, while the Sailfish move to 6-4 overall, 1-2 in conference matches.
Lana Gerard registered a team-high 10 kills while
Andie Baldridge contributed seven kills and a team-best six digs.
Natalie Horsley handed out a team-high 25 assists and
Adriana Lopez picked up five digs.
Kaleigh Ammons racked up a match-best 11 kills and four service aces for PBA, while Kayla Matthews added 10 kills and six digs. Jayden Otto posted a match-leading 38 assists to go along with six digs and Lauren Cummings collected a match-high eight digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- The Tars jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, but a 5-0 run gave PBA a 13-11 advantage midway through the frame.
- Rollins kept things close, never trailing by more than three points, and the home team got to within one late on a block from Emma Rome and Makayla Moran that made it 21-20.
- Palm Beach Atlantic took the next two points and then traded sideouts over the final four serves to claim a 25-22 win.
Set Two
- The Sailfish used a 7-2 run in the middle stages of set two to build a comfortable 16-10 advantage.
- The Tars rallied late, going on a 7-2 spurt of their own to get within a point at 24-23, but a PBA kill on the next rally gave the visitors a 25-23 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set Three
- Set three saw Rollins use an early 4-0 run to take a 5-3 lead, only to have PBA score the next three points to move back in front, 6-5.
- With the score knotted at 10, the Sailfish went on a 14-4 run to earn match point at 24-14.
- Rollins made things interesting by scoring the next five points, but a service error clinched the set and the match, giving PBA a 25-19 win and a 3-0 sweep.

The Tars are on the road for the next month, beginning with a contest at Eckerd on Friday, Sept. 23. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in St. Petersburg.
