Men Remain Unbeaten with 3-1 Win at Lynn

Rollins defeated Lynn 3-1 on Saturday night

BOCA RATON, Fla. (September 10, 2022) - The Rollins Tars remain unbeaten in 2022 following an impressive 3-1 victory road win in their first Sunshine State Conference matchup against Lynn. The Tars move to 5-0-1 (1-0 SSC) on the year, while Lynn falls to 0-2-3 (0-1 SSC).

All of the action in this one was in the second half after a scoreless first. Georgios Koliniatis got things started on a breakaway in which he was able to use his speed to get behind the Knights defenders. One on one with the goalie was an easy win for the Greek, who netted his third goal of the year in the 59th minutes. Janosch Barho earned the assist on a nice lead pass.

Eight minutes later, an offensive onslaught led to another goal for the Tars. A wave of shots headed at Patrick Nettekoven, and for a moment he and his defenders did well to keep the ball out of the net. However, Nazar Tsaruk was able to power a ball past a defender and the goalie for his first score of the season, making it 2-0.

Cole Cecconi got in the action late in the 80th minute. Following a blocked shot, Cecconi collected the rebound and ripped a right-foot blast past the keeper for his third goal of the season, matching Koliniatis for the team lead.

The only dark mark for the game came immediately after Cecconi's goal when the Knights broke the shutout with a goal from Roman Hartleb.

The Tars were efficient with their shots, with seven of eight landing on goal. On the flip side, Maximillian Obermeier was strong in goal, stopping five of the six shots that came his way.

Next up for Rollins is another road game, their fifth in a row, against Eckerd on September 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm in St. Petersburg.
