Ross Wins Tricks Championship at The World Games

Reilly Ross finished first in the Open Women Tricks division of the waterski portion of The World Games competition earlier this month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 27, 2022) - Earlier this month, Rollins waterskiers Neilly Ross and Patricio Font traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to take part in The World Games, competing in the Open Tricks event. Ross led after the preliminary round and backed up her performance in the finals, taking home the gold, while Font took 10th in the men's competition.

Ross was one of seven women competing in the Open Tricks waterski event, and she came out and dominated in the preliminary round, putting up a score of 9750 to lead the way. Only Anna Gay scored anywhere near Ross with a score 9190, with the other five competitors scoring 7100 or lower. The top five scores from the prelims advanced to compete in the finals, where Ross was once again dominant, posting a score of 9690, well ahead of Gay's runner-up tally of 9190 to claim the gold medal.

Font competed in the men's Open Tricks event, posting a score of 6720 in the preliminary round, which did not allow him to advance to the finals, as he finished 10th overall.

The World Games is an 11-day international multi-sport event organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee. Held the year following the Summer Olympic Games, The World Games 2022 showcased a New Generation of Global Sports in Birmingham from July 7-17. Approximately 3,600 elite athletes from over 100 countries competed for gold in more than 30 of the fastest growing sports in the world.
