Whitehead Shuts Out Panthers in Series Opener

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 22, 2022) – Jaylyn Whitehead tossed Rollins' first nine-inning complete game shutout since 2018 to lead the 11th-ranked Tars to a 4-0 victory over Florida Tech on Friday night. The victory improved the Tars' record to 30-11, 14-8 in conference play, while the Panthers fell to 28-17, 11-14 in SSC games.

Adams Torres finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Chase Achuff was 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Jaylyn Whitehead (8-1) went the distance, giving up just two hits and a walk in the nine-inning effort, racking up 12 strikeouts along the way. The last nine-inning shutout by a Tar was accomplished by Garrett Leonard against Lynn on March 3, 2018.

Alec Eldridge went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and Dylan Dahonos was 1-for-4 for the Panthers. Joey Hecht (3-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings of work, walking one.
