HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
  • Joey Rubin was hit by a pitch to lead off, and three batters later Jeslyn Whitehead drew a walk to put two on with two outs.
  • Santucci then drilled a three-run home run to give the Tars an early 3-0 lead.

  • The Mocs answered, scoring a run on a bases-loaded walk to Berry and then tying the game at 3-3 on a two-run single from Jared DeSantolo.
  • After another walk re-loaded the bases, Stone-Frisina came in and limited the damage, striking out the next two batters to keep the game tied.
Third Inning
  • Achuff opened the third with a walk and moved to third on an errant pickoff attempt.
  • Adams Torres brought him home with a sacrifice fly to put the Tars back in front, 4-3.
  • After a Jeslyn Whitehead single, Santucci launched his second home run of the contest, lifting the lead to 6-3.
Fourth Inning
  • Rollins extended the lead further in the fourth with three runs on three hits.
  • Herron led off with a walk and moved to second on Achuff's one-out single.
  • After Torres walked, a wild pitch allowed all three runners to move up, including Herron, who scored to make it 7-3.
  • Jeslyn Whitehead then slapped a two-run single to center, making it a 9-3 game.
Fifth Inning
  • The Tar offense kept rolling in the fifth, stringing together five straight hits with two outs to score three more times.
  • Herron got the streak started with a two-out single, and he promptly scored on Joey Rubin's triple.
  • Achuff then doubled home Rubin to make it 11-3, and Torres followed that with an RBI single to push the lead to 12-3.
  • Jeslyn Whitehead kept the line moving with a single, but a Santucci flyout ended the streak at five straight hits.
Eighth Inning
  • FSC got a run back in the eighth when Berry hit a leadoff home run.
Ninth Inning
  • The Mocs manufactured a run in the ninth without the benefit of a hit, but Steven Swift limited the damage to a lone run as he closed out the 13-5 win.
