Tars Compete in Pair of Finals

The day was highlighted by a third place finish in the Women’s Club 8 Final

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (April 10, 2022) – The Tars women competed in a pair of events on the final day of the Knecht Cup. The day was highlighted by a third place finish in the Women's Club 8 DI/DII Final.  Rollins fought difficult conditions, including a strong tailwind that made the last 1000 meters of the race almost un-rowable at times.

The Women's Novice 4 opened the day for the Tars, competing in the Grand Final of the event.  New Hampshire won the race with a time of 8:18.29.  Lafayette and Iona earned the other medalist positions, just edging the Tars, who were less than two seconds out of third, and just three second from silver.  The Tars started slow with a couple small bobbles early in the race. Rollins recovered well, but just ran out of real estate as they were moving up on third place Iona.

The Tars ended the day with the Women's Club DI/DII 8 Final, where the Tars faced a tough field to earn the bronze.  Lafayette and Penn State finished first and second before Rollins stopped the clock at 7:54.09.  The Tars bested fourth place Pittsburgh by 15 seconds.

WHAT COACH SAID:
"All the women's boats focused on what they could control and handed the big water extremely well. While these were the only two races for us on the final day, they made their competitors work to beat them."

UP NEXT:
The Tars will travel to Oak Ridge, Tennessee for SIRA competition next weekend, with events set for April 15 and 16.
