BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 5, 2022) – The Tars completed a three game sweep of Lynn with a pair of shutout victories over the Fighting Knights, 7-0 and 5-0. Rollins leaves South Florida at 10-3 overall and 4-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. Lynn drops to 5-13, and 0-9 against SSC oppositions.

GAME ONE: Rollins 7, Lynn 0

Emily MacMullen starred for Rollins in the circle. The freshman tossed a complete game shutout, surrendering just one hit, and striking out five.Â
Ashley Worrell highlighted the Rollins offense, going 3-4 at the plate with a trio of doubles, two runs, and a RBI.Â
Tyler Jo Colby went 2-4 offensively with a homerun and four RBI.Â
Grace Germer tallied three hits and touched the plate for Rollins.

Talyor Scala tallied the only hit for the Fighting Knights. Faith Miller got the start and picked up the loss for Lynn, throwing 2.1 innings. She was relieved by Josey Sumpter, who threw the final 4.2 frames.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
Third Inning
- The Tars ballooned their lead in the top if the third with a rally that started with a one out single by Chelsea Peace.
- Worrell lifted her second double of the afternoon to centerfield to put a pair of runners on.
- Tyler Jo Colby then drove a laser over the left field wall, scoring three runs, giving Rollins a 4-0 lead.
- Emily MacMullen made sure the Tars held the momentum, retiring the Fighting Knights in order in the bottom of the frame.
Fourth Inning
- Lynn threatened off a trio of Tars mistakes, but the Rollins defense buckled down, and MacMullen tallied a key strikeout to keep the Fighting Knights off the board.
Sixth Inning
- Rollins added a pair of insurance runs.
- Grace Germer and Sarah Young each knocked singles, and Ashley Troutman was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
- Raiven Bryant then tallied a third single of the inning for the Tars, driving home a pair of runs, and making the score 6-0.
Seventh Inning
- The Tars continued to cross the plate as Worrell started the inning with her third double. She would later score on a Jo Colby single.
- MacMullen finished off the dominating effort with a one, two, three inning in the seventh.

GAME TWO: Rollins 5, Lynn 0
Ashley Troutman registered a double and a homerun in a 2-4 outing. The infielder scored twice and drove in three runs.Â
Chelsea Peace also tallied a 2-4 game, hitting a solo homerun of her own.Â
Ashley Worrell threw a gem for Rollins. The senior earned the complete game shutout, giving up just five scattered hits, while striking out five.

Aymee Godmaire reached safely in all three of her at bats, going 2-2 with a walk for Lynn, and registering a double. Madison Pricket tossed six innings, giving up nine hits and five earned runs. She gave way to Haley Fardanesh, who tossed one perfect frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
- The Tars and Fighting Knights both threatened in the first inning, but neither could push a runner across.
Fifth Inning
- Rollins finally tallied in the fifth. Grace Germer and Ashley Troutman opened the frame with back-to-back doubles to score the game's first run.
- Ashley Worrell helped her own cause, singling in Troutman to give the Tars a 2-0 advantage.
- The Fighting Knights put runners on first and second with only one out in the bottom of the frame. Tyler Jo Colby helped the Tars out of the frame, catching a line drive then stepping on first base to register an inning ending double play.
Sixth Inning
- Ashley Troutman hit her first homerun of the year to provide the Tars with a pair of insurance runs. Lexi Moore, who had hit a one single, scored on the blast.
Seventh Inning
- Another long ball put the game out of reach. Chelsea Peace lofted her shot over the fence to lead off the seventh inning.
- The Fighting Knights got a pair of runners on, but Worrell got the final two batters to groundout to give Rollins the series sweep.
UP NEXT:
The Tars will ready for a midweek doubleheader against No. 10 Augustana. The Tars and Vikings will meet on Wednesday, March 9, with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
