DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 30, 2022) – The 21st-ranked Rollins men's tennis team put up a good fight on Wednesday, but ultimately came up short against fifth-ranked Embry-Riddle, falling by a score of 6-1. With the loss, the Tars drop to 7-4 overall, 2-3 in SSC play, while the Eagles improve to 12-3, 3-1 in conference matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The 37th-ranked tandem of Andrea Brignacca and Denis Golubev got the Tars off to a good start, defeating Lukas Schnieder and Michele Iftimie, 6-2, on court two.
- Embry-Riddle battled back to win on court three and take the No. 1 doubles match by a 7-6 score, giving the Eagles the doubles point.
Singles
- The Eagles got wins on court six and one to take a 3-0 lead, and ERAU clinched the match with a win on court four.
- Brignacca came back to claim the Tars' sole point of the match with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Iftimie on court three.
- Embry-Riddle picked up wins on court five and two to close out the contest.
