WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 26, 2022) – The 12th-ranked Rollins men's lacrosse kept its perfect season alive with a 13-7 win over Embry-Riddle in the conference opener for both teams on Saturday. With the win, Rollins improves to 8-0 on the year, 1-0 in conference play, while the Eagles fall to 3-8, 0-1 in SSC play.
Justin White led the Tars with four goals while
Marshall Ellison tallied two goals and two assists. Quin Timmerman V notched three assists and
Jack Johnstone tallied a pair of goals to go along with two ground balls.
Justin Isenhour led the team with five ground balls and two caused turnovers while also scoring a goal himself.
Bradley Peterson made eight saves to get the win in goal.
Coleman Jacobs had two goals and two ground balls for Embry-Riddle, while Marcus Needham had three assists. Pete Abbes and Lars Hoeg each tallied a goal and an assist. Mark Urso had a game-high 10 ground balls and was 12-for-20 in faceoffs. Lucas Fraser took the loss in goal, making nine saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- White got his first goal of the game less than five minutes into the contest.
- After two Eagle goals, White scored with 3:52 on the clock to tie things at two.
- Ellison put Rollins ahead at the 2:11 mark and White notched goal number three just before the buzzer, giving the Tars a 4-2 lead after one.
Second Quarter
- Finn Jent and Mark Ranieri scored five seconds apart in the opening minute of the second quarter, pushing the lead to 6-2.
- ERAU scored the next two goals to make it 6-4.
- Bailey Pringle found the net at the 9:25 mark and Johnstone scored just over 30 seconds later, building the lead to 8-4.
- The Eagles tallied the next two goals before Ellison found the net at the 5:50 mark, putting Rollins up 9-6 with what proved to be the final goal of the half.
Third Quarter
- White opened the second half scoring about halfway through the third quarter and Davis Moshier scored about 90 seconds later, increasing the lead to 11-6.
- Embry-Riddle got the only other goal of the quarter as Rollins took an 11-7 lead into the final 15 minutes.
Fourth Quarter
- Johnstone tallied his second of the game with 6:07 to go and Isenhour netted the final score of the game at the 3:15 mark, giving Rollins a 13-7 victory.
