WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 18, 2022) – The Tars dropped their series opening matchup against Palm Beach Atlantic, 4-2, at Rollins Softball Stadium. The Tars fall to 13-5 overall and 4-3 against Sunshine State Conference foes. The Sailfish improve to 10-11, and 9-4 in SSC contests.

The Tars offense was led by
Chelsea Peace, who went 2-2 at the plate with a double and homerun.Â
Ashley Worrell notched a pair of hits in three at bats. Grace Gerrmer went 1-3 with a run scored and
Lexi Moore tallied an RBI. Worrell picked up the loss in the circle, giving up four runs in two innings.Â
Emily MacMullen tossed 4.2 innings of shutout relief, before
Katie Eicher picked up the Tars' final out.

Meredith Milam and Katherine Budnovich each went 3-4 with two RBI to pace the Sailfish attack. Milam hit one homerun, while Budnovich tallied a double and a triple. Cambria Arturo threw a complete game, giving up five hits, to earn the victory in the circle.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning:
- Milam hit a leadoff homerun to put the Sailfish on top.
Second Inning
- A one out walk set the stage for big inning for Palm Beach Atlantic.
- Back-to-back two out singles scored the first run of the inning.
- A Budnovich triple plated another pair of scores give the Sailfish a 4-0 lead.
Fourth Inning
- Chelsea Peace led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a blast over the left field wall, putting Rollins on the board.
Seventh Inning
- The Sailfish threatened to add to their lead in the top of the seventh, but Katie Eicher entered the game with the bases loaded and struck out the lone batter she faced to keep the game in striking distance.
- Grace Germer reached third base on an error before crossing home plate on a Lexi Moore sacrifice fly, making the score 4-2.
- Rollins could not get any closer as they fall in the series opener.

Rollins and Palm Beach Atlantic will face off in doubleheader action, tomorrow, Saturday, March 19. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
