HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
- The Tars got on the board early when Rubin came home to score on a double play.
Second Inning
- Santucci doubled the lead when he led off the second inning with a solo home run over the right field wall.
Fourth Inning
- Gannon plated its first run of the game in the fourth on a two-out RBI single from Mejia.
- The Tars answered back in the bottom half, beginning with a leadoff double from Torres.
- After Jeslyn Whitehead was hit by a pitch, Santucci laced a double to score Torres, but Whitehead was cut down at the plate.
- Smith then doubled, the third extra-base hit of the inning, scoring Santucci to make it 4-1.
- Cameron Meehan followed with a base hit that pushed Smith to third; Meehan then promptly stole second to put two runners in scoring position with one out.
- Andres Antonini then lifted a fly ball into foul territory down the left field line; the left fielder made the catch and threw out Smith trying to score on the play, recording the final two outs of the inning.
Fifth Inning
- The Golden Knights scored their second run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth to make it 4-2.
Sixth Inning
- Torres again led off an inning with a double and then moved to third on an infield single from Jeslyn Whitehead.
- Santucci hit a grounder to second that turned into a fielder's choice, scoring Torres to give the Tars a three-run lead once again at 5-2.
Seventh Inning
- The Tars tacked on some insurance runs in the seventh, beginning with a one-out single from Timothy Mira.
- After Rubin drew a walk, both men moved up 90 feet on a balk.
- Two batters later, Torres singled to score both Mira and Rubin, upping the lead to 7-2.
Ninth Inning
- Spencer Mangum came on to pitch the ninth, and thanks in part to a ground ball double play, he only needed to face three batters to complete the inning and secure the win.
