GULF SHORES, Ala. (February 5, 2022) – After having their games canceled yesterday, Rollins was forced to wait again before their season opener, after day two of the Gulf Shores Invitational was delayed. Once Rollins finally took the field, they came away with a pair of victories, defeating Shorter, 9-0, and Montevallo, 4-3.
GAME ONE: Rollins 9, Shorter 0
Chelsea Peace led the Tars, going 1-2 at the plate with a homerun, pair of RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Emily MacMullen got the start in the circle, seeing her first action in the Blue and Gold. She surrendered just two hits in five shutout innings, while striking out six.

The Hawks got a double from Kaylee George to lead their limited offensive output. Emily Brunson took the loss for Shorter.

How It Happened
First Inning
- Rollins got on the board early with a two run home run off the bat of Chelsea Peace. Ashley Troutman scored on the blast over the left field fence.
Second Inning
- Jaden Walker led off the frame with a single to right field, and came around to score the Tars third run on a Troutman hit.
Third Inning
Fifth Inning
- McMullen tallied three strike outs in the fifth to clinch the five inning win for Rollins.Â
GAME TWO: Rollins 4, Montevallo 3
Raiven Bryant went 2-3 and scored a run to lead the Tars offense.Â
Tyler Jo Colby went 1-3 and tallied a pair of RBI.Â
Ashley Worrell picked up the win in the circle for Rollins, tossing 5.1 innings and giving up three earned runs, while striking out six.

Taylor Robison highlighted the Falcons' offensive efforts, going 1-3 with a solo homerun. Kaitlyn Flugga took the loss for Montevallo, giving up four runs on seven hits, in 2.1 innings.

How It Happened
Second Inning
- Jaden Walker got Rollins on the board in the bottom of the second. The Sophomorer tallied a two out single, then crossed the plate on a Tristin Peace single.
Third Inning
- Rollins put up a crooked number in the third frame, tallying three runs to take a 4-0 lead.
- Raiven Bryant slapped a leadoff single before scoring as Taylor Waters reached on an error by the third baseman.
- Tyler Jo Colby capped the scoring with a two RBI single, chasing Flugga, and giving Rollins a 4-0 lead.
Fourth Inning
- Montevallo pulled one run back on Robinsons leadoff homerun.
- The Tars escaped a bases loaded, one out jam to maintain a 4-1 advantage.
Sixth Inning
- The Falcons pulled back within one, scoring a pair of runs with singles.
- Emily MacMullen entered the game, and got Rollins out of the inning with a strikeout.
Seventh Inning
- MacMullen struck out the side in the seventh to seal the win.
