BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 26, 2022) – The Rollins men's basketball team came up short in its regular season finale on Saturday, falling to Lynn 93-70 on the road. The Tars drop to 14-14 overall and 9-11 in SSC play, while the Fighting Knights finish the season 11-13, 5-13 in league games.
Hutton Yenor led the Tars with 22 points, four assists, and three steals, while
Brooks Cluxton chipped in with 19 points and five rebounds.
Kyle Marion added 12 points, five boards, and three assists.
Jamison Evans scored a game-high 40 points for Lynn on 14-of-21 shooting, including 12-of-17 from behind the arc. Cameron Gaines added 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds while Christian Peevy had 14 points and six assists. Brandon Bornelus dished out a game-high nine assists for the Fighting Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half
- Lynn got the first points of the game, but the Tars scored six straight to take an early 6-2 lead.
- A 12-4 run put the Fighting Knights up 33-24 with 3:44 let in the half.
- The Tars closed the half on a 9-3 spurt to get within three (36-33) at the break.
Second Half
- Rollins scored the first four points of the second half to retake the lead, 37-36, less than two minutes into the period.
- Lynn scored the next five points to go up 41-37, and the Fighting Knights wouldn't relinquish the lead for the remainder of the contest.
- A 9-0 run pushed the Lynn lead to 14 (74-60) with 7:02 to go.
- The lead reached 20 points (88-68) with 1:29 left, and the Fighting Knights went on to win by a score of 93-70.
UP NEXT:
The Tars have earned the No. 6 seed in the Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Tournament and will travel to Miami Shores on Tuesday, March 1, to face No. 3 seed Barry in the quarterfinals. Game time is still to be determined.
