Tars Earn 4-3 Victory Over Florida Southern

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 23, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team won its second straight match on Wednesday, defeating Florida Southern by a score of 4-3. The victory lifts the Tars to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in SSC matches, while the Mocs fall to 1-2 overall and in league play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
  • After FSC won at No. 3 doubles, Kaitlynn Groves and Maria McKay knotted things up with a 6-4 win over Minnie Kim and Vivien Charvatova on court two.
  • Florida Southern clinched the doubles point when Mathilda Vidgren and Laura Vetter bested 19th-ranked Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth on court one, 7-6 (3).
Singles
  • Groth made quick work of Vetter in singles, sweeping the match 6-0, 6-0 on court one.
  • Groves wasted no time putting Rollins ahead with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Kim on court three.
  • The Tars increased their lead to 3-1 with Borg's 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory over Vidgren on court two.
  • FSC rallied to tie things up with wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, leaving the deciding point to come on court four.
  • Polina Vlasova won the opening set over Isabella Bolivar, 7-5, but Bolivar battled back for a 6-4 win in set two. Vlasova was triumphant in the third set, winning 6-4 to seal the overall match for the Tars.
