WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 21, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Monday, and it did so in dominant fashion. The Tars swept all but one doubles match, defeating the Bobcats 7-0. The win moves Rollins to 1-4 on the season, while Bates falls to 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- 19th-ranked Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth had no trouble at No. 1 doubles, defeating Joanna Atwater and Victoria Scott, 6-1.
- After Bates won at No. 3 doubles, the match's opening point was to be decided on court two. Kaitlynn Groves and Maria McKay were up to the task, picking up a 6-4 win over Drew Williams and Olivia Gidlow to put the Tars up 1-0.
Singles
- In singles, the Tars simply outmatched the Bobcats; no player lost more than a total of three games in any individual match.
- Groves got on the board first with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Abigail Zerbey on court three.
- A few minutes later over on court four, Polina Vlasova bested Williams, 6-1, 6-0, to make it 3-0.
- McKay earned the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alexandra D'Aquino on court five.
- Natalia Collado Cordon took down Ava Lyon on court six, 6-0, 6-3.
- Groth was victorious over Atwater, 6-1, 6-2, on court one.
- The seventh and final point was won by Borg on court two when she finished off a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ally Friedman.

The Tars will continue their homestand on Wednesday, Feb. 23, when they host Florida Southern in a conference match scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
