Rollins Falls at Nova Southeastern

NSU outscored Rollins 33-17 in the second half to pull away for the 74-45 win

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (February 19, 2022) – The Rollins women's basketball team traveled to South Florida on Saturday to take on Nova Southeastern. The Tars came up short against the Sharks, 74-45. The loss drops Rollins' record to 6-18 overall, 3-16 in SSC play, while NSU goes to 15-10, 10-8 in league play.
 
Lucy Leen led the Tars with 11 points while Kalilia Fambro added eight points off the bench. Yoke Tassent pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and added three points.
 
McKenah Peters led the Sharks with a game-high 14 points while Madeline Hardy notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Alexus Bryant chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • NSU hit a three on the opening possession, but Yassent answered with a three of her own to tie it.
  • The Sharks scored the next nine points and pushed their lead to 11 (24-13) at the end of the first.
Second Quarter
  • Nova Southeastern maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second quarter, going into halftime up 41-28.
Third Quarter
  • The Tars scored the first five points of the second half, trimming the deficit to eight (41-33) with 7:05 left in the third quarter.
  • NSU answered back and had built a 54-37 advantage by the end of the period.
Fourth Quarter
  • Rollins struggled from the field in the final 10 minutes, making just two field goals as it was outscored 20-8, with Nova Southeastern pulling away for the 74-45 win.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will wrap up the 2021-22 season next Saturday, Feb. 26, when they travel to Lynn for a 2 p.m. contest.
