Tars Dominate Sailfish in South Florida Tilt

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (February 19, 2022) – Newly ranked Rollins traveled south to pick up a dominating, 15-7, win over Palm Beach Atlantic in non-Sunshine State Conference action.  The No. 19 Tars improve to 3-0 overall.  The Sailfish fall to 1-2 in 2022.
 
The Tars got five goal performances from Jack Johnstone and Finn Jent, while Bailey Pringle led Rollins with six points, coming on three goals and three assists.  Jared Kotar starred for the defense, causing a career high four turnovers and picking up three groundballs.  Bradley Peterson made nine saves, playing the full 60 minutes in goal.
 
Joshua Turner led the Palm Beach Atlantic offense, scoring twice and tallying one assist, good for three points.  Ben Lightsey made 13 saves, while allowing 15 goals for the Sailfish.
 
The Tars dominated the faceoff, winning 17-25, and groundballs, picking up 40 against the Sailfish 33, on their way to outshooting Palm Beach Atlantic 41-28.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

• The Tars dominated from the opening face.  Jent scored for Rollins on the game's first two possessions, circling the crease and wrapping a shot around the keeper and into the net for the first, and firing a bounce shot for the second.
• Jack Lambert made it 3-0 with a behind the back score on an extra man opportunity.
• Jent tallied his hat trick less than four minutes into the game to make the score 4-0.
• The Sailfish tallied the next pair to cut the Rollins lead to 4-2.
• Jack Johnstone regained the Tars four goal advantage with a pair of goals off assists from Peyton Miller and Bailey Pringle to close the period.

Second Quarter

• After a seven minute scoreless stretch to start the quarter, Jent initiated the scoring with low shot off a dodge down the ally.
• The Sailfish pulled one score back, but Bailey Pringle registered a late pair, including a shot off a skillful spin dodge in the final minute to give the Tars a 9-3 halftime advantage.

Third Quarter

• Palm Beach Atlantic tallied the first goal of the second half.
• The Tars waited as long as possible to regain their six goal cushion, 10-4, as Jent lasered in his fifth goal from long distance as the buzzer sounded to end the quarter.

Fourth Quarter

• The Sailfish tallied their fifth and sixth goals in the opening minutes of the final period.
• The Tars responded with a fast break score as Pringle got his hat trick off an assist from Davis Moshier.
• The Tars ballooned the lead back to seven with three straight goals for Johnstone. He completed his hat trick on Pringle's second assist, picked up a loose ball on the crease a buried an easy opportunity, and, finally, netted his fifth on another assist from Pringle.
• Rollins continued to score late, as Julian Chero tallied his first collegiate point with a fast break assist to Connor Coltharp.
• The Tars defense locked down, as the Sailfish did not score for the final 9:40 of game, allowing the Tars to leave South Florida with the 15-7 victory.

Rollins will head back to South Florida to take on Lynn next Saturday, February 26.  Faceoff against the Fighting Knights is set for noon.
