WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 18, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team took on another NCAA I opponent on Friday, falling to visiting Army by a score of 4-0. The Tars battled hard in singles and had a few opportunities to score points when the match ended. The loss drops Rollins to 0-4, while Army improved to 10-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- Army won the top two doubles matches by 6-0 scores to capture the doubles point.
Singles
- Army got victories on courts six and three to take a 3-0 lead in the match.
- Natalia Collado Cordon was the final Tar to fall, though she put up a valiant effort on court five. She dropped the opening set to Mary Jo Pidgeon after a long tiebreak, 7-6 (12-10), and then pushed the second set to another tiebreak, falling 7-6 (7-4), which clinched the match for Army.
- The other three singles matches were abandoned unfinished, though Rollins was in a strong position to win all three of them.
- Alexandra Borg was leading Sophie McKenzie on court two, 6-1, 5-7, 3-1.
- Georgina Groth was tied with Elizabeth Gilbert on court one, 4-6, 6-3, 3-3.
- On court four, Maria McKay was tied with Paulina Feoli, 7-5, 6-3, 4-4.
