WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 15, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team had its home opener on Tuesday, falling to NCAA I Stetson by a score of 7-0. The loss drops the Tars' season mark to 0-2, while the Hatters improve to 7-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The No. 19 tandem of Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, defeating Alanna DiFrancesco and Elodie Foster.
- The Hatters took the other two doubles matches in straight sets, clinching the doubles point.
Singles
- Stetson got straight-sets wins in five of the matches, clinching the overall score with a win on court six.
- On court one, Groth fought hard against Nadejda Maslova, pushing the first set to a tiebreak and winning the second set, forcing the match to a decisive third-set tiebreak. Maslova was able to come away with the win, taking the match 7-6 (3), 4-6, 10-5, in the closest contest of the day.
UP NEXT:
Rollins will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 17, when it makes the short trip to the USTA National Campus in Orlando for a match-up against NCAA I Air Force. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
