MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (February 12, 2022) – The Rollins women's tennis team opened the 2022 season on Saturday with a 6-1 defeat at No. 1 Barry. The Tars drop to 0-1 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while the Bucs improve to 4-0, 1-0 in SSC matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The No. 19 duo of Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth battled at No. 1 doubles, but came up short, losing 6-4 to Deniz Khazan and Madeline Bosnjak.
- The Bucs won the other two doubles matches as well, clinching the doubles point.
Singles
- Barry picked up quick points on courts four, five, and three to go up 4-0.
- The Bucs clinched the match at number six singles.
- Groth had a strong showing against Khazan, the top-ranked singles player in Division II, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-4.
- The Tars got their lone point thanks to a valiant effort from Borg on court two. She won the opening set against Xiyao Wang, 6-3, before dropping the second set by the same 6-3 score. The two went to a tiebreak, which Borg won, 10-7.

Rollins will be right back at it tomorrow afternoon when they visit Palm Beach Atlantic in another SSC contest. Tomorrow's match is set for a 2 p.m. start.
