Rollins swept the top three spots in seven events on Friday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Dec. 16, 2022) – The Rollins women's swimming team dominated the seventh-ranked team from the NAIA, St. Thomas, by a score of 187-74 on Friday. The win evens the Tars' record at 3-3, while STU drops to 4-3 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Tars took second in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of Amelia Kondal, Abigayle Wood, Sarah Brown, and Lydia Bohannon posting a time of 1:52.61.
  • Rollins swept the podium in the day's first individual event, the 1000-yard freestyle, with Alonna Clark (10:41.45), Elliot Fox (11:11.29), and Erika Wesch (11:13.96) taking the top three spots.
  • Jill Hughes (1:59.13) won the 200-yard freestyle, with Abby Frey (2:03.85) placing third.
  • The 100-yard backstroke saw Danielle Boland (1:02.72) and Kondal (1:03.00) take second and third, respectively.
  • Another sweep of the top three positions occurred in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Wood (1:07.80), Katie Canty (1:10.20), and Brooke Postell (1:10.70) finishing 1-2-3.
  • The third sweep of the day happened in the next race, with Brown (2:13.17), MK McCann (2:20.59), and Abby Flood (2:22.15) the first three to touch the wall in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • Lizzie Sander (26.24) and Emily Hennessy (26.25) finished second and third, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.
  • Kondal (56.43), Dylan Beeson (57.16), and Hennessy (57.47) swept the top three spots in the 100-yard freestyle, the fourth sweep of the day.
  • Sander (2:10.90) and Fox (2:13.93) earned second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • The 200-yard breaststroke was sweep number five, with Wood (2:27.80), Postell (2:31.49), and Carly Yeagle (2:33.15) doing the honors for the Tars.
  • Hughes (5:12.20), Clark (5:20.64), and Wesch (5:32.66) took the top three positions in the 500-yard freestlye for the sixth sweep of the day.
  • The seventh sweep was the 100-yard butterfly, as Brown (1:00.19), Hennessy (1:01.49), and Lauren Diehl (1:02.86) helped the Tars continue to dominate the meet.
  • Hughes (2:14.76) won her third event of the day in the 200-yard individual medley, with Sander (2:15.98) not far behind in second place.
  • Rollins closed out the day in style, with Kondal, Brown, Clark, and Hennessy winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:41.44.
