WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 25, 2022) – The Rollins women's basketball team dropped its third straight game on Friday, falling to Minnesota State – Moorhead by a score of 87-57 on the first day of the Rollins Classic. With the loss, the Tars drop to 2-3 overall, while MSUM improves to 2-2.
Aaliyah Irizarry-Perez led Rollins with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added six rebounds (five offensive).
Emily Dogbatse added 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting off the bench.
Grace Alfieri tallied eight points and a team-high three steals, while
Lucy Leen and
Maria Atanassov-Tomas each dished out a team-leading three assists.
Natalie Jens scored a game-high 17 points in addition to a game-high five assists, a team-best three steals, and five rebounds for the Dragons. Mariah McKeever chipped in with 16 points and Allisa Knight added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- A Terryn Johnson layup got the Dragons on the board first just 19 seconds into the game.
- After a Kymora Westerfield jumper tied it at two, Minnesota State – Moorhead scored six straight points to take an 8-6 lead with 7:33 left in the opening quarter.
- The Tars got back to within one at 8-7 less than a minute later, but the Dragons rebuilt their lead to 22-13 with 2:53 to go in the frame.
- MSUM scored the last six points of the quarter to extend its lead to 28-17.
Second Quarter
- The second quarter saw the Dragons maintain a double-digit lead for the entire period, growing to as many as 18 points before a last-second triple from Dogbatse made it 46-31 at the half.
Third Quarter
- The Tars got to within 13 in the third, but Minnesota State Moorhead never allowed Rollins to score more than four consecutive points, and the visitors held a 63-47 lead heading to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- A triple from McKeever at the 6:20 mark pushed the Dragon lead to 21 (71-50), and they would finish the contest with a 30-point margin of victory, 87-57.

The Tars will take on Lincoln (Pa.) in tomorrow's consolation game of the Rollins Classic. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
