Fighting Knights Spoil Senior Day

WINTER PARK, Fla. (Nov. 12, 2022) – The Rollins volleyball team closed out the 2022 season on Saturday with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-20) loss to visiting Lynn on Senior Day. The Tars finish the year with a 7-24 mark, including a 2-18 record in SSC play, while Lynn ends the regular season at 23-5, 15-4 in conference matches.
 
Emily Diaz led the Tars with six kills while Lana Gerard and Makayla Moran each chipped in with five kills. Marta Tsaneva had a team-high 23 assists while Adriana Lopez picked up a team-leading seven digs.
 
Monica Mazzoleni registered a match-best 10 kills and a .769 attack percentage, while Nadia Lindner posted eight kills and nine digs and Paige Barash contributed eight kills and eight digs while hitting .500. Emily Edwards tallied a match-best 39 assists to go along with a match-high four blocks and four kills, while Marin Black picked up a match-leading 11 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
  • Lynn took an early 6-3 lead, but the Tars quickly got back to even at 7-7.
  • A 5-0 run gave the Fighting Knights a 16-10 advantage, but later a 7-2 spurt by the Tars gave the home side a 23-22 lead.
  • Lynn got the next two points to earn set point at 24-23, but a Gerard kill knotted things up at 24.
  • The visitors scored on the next two rallies to secure the 26-24 win and a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set Two
  • The Fighting Knights wasted no time jumping out to an 11-4 lead in the second set.
  • Rollins worked to get back within three at 15-12, but Lynn took the next five points to make it 20-12.
  • LU closed out the set on a 5-2 run to clinch it, 25-15, taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set Three
  • Set three saw the two sides tied at six when Lynn rattled off three straight points as part of a 7-1 run that pushed the visitors to a 13-7 lead.
  • A late 5-1 run brought Rollins to within three at 21-18, but the Fighting Knights held on for a 25-20 win to complete the 3-0 sweep.
