WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 26, 2022) - For the sixth year, the Rollins College women's volleyball team will host a "Dig Pink" match in cooperation with the Side-Out Foundation. The 2022 edition will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 when the Tars host Eckerd at 4 p.m. inside Warden Arena.
The Side-Out Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands for dollars for research, specifically aimed at patients with Stage IV breast cancer. Stage IV is the most advanced form of the disease, and is also the least-funded area of research, according to the Foundation's website. Hundreds of volleyball teams from all levels, from middle school to college, participate in the fundraising effort each year. Rollins Volleyball has held a Dig Pink match each year since head coach Mika Robinson took over the program in 2016.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game to show their support of those fighting breast cancer. The team will be collecting donations at the door. Anyone who cannot attend the game in person can still help out by making an online donation, or by bidding on a custom, match-worn pink Rollins volleyball jersey. In 2021 more than $1,000 in donations were raised.
