Sailing Finishes Third at SAISA Fall Women’s Sprint

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2022) – The Rollins women's sailing team posted a strong third-place finish at the SAISA Fall Women's Sprint in Melbourne on Saturday. The Tars finished the day with a total of 28 points, just nine points behind top-finishing Eckerd.
 
Rollins got off to a strong start, placing second in the opening race. After taking fourth in the second race, the Tars posted back-to-back third-place finishes. Race five saw the Rollins sailors cross the finish line first, moving them up into second place overall at the time. The Tars were runners-up in the next two races, maintaining second place in the regatta. Rollins closed the day finishing seventh in race eight and fourth in the final race, which kept the Tars in third overall, finishing just one point ahead of South Florida.
 
Eckerd scored 19 points to win the event, with Florida Tech's "1" team placing second with 22 points, six points ahead of the Tars in third. USF was fourth with 29 points, while Florida Tech's "2" team rounded out the top five with 42 points.
