WINTER PARK, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2022) – It came down to the final race of the day on Saturday as the visiting Saint Leo Lions narrowly bested the 25th-ranked Rollins men's swimming team by a score of 131-130. The Tars are now 0-3 in dual meets this season, while Saint Leo is 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Skylar Murphy, Tully Njoroge, Luke Dinges, and William Slowey got things off to a good start by winning the 400-yard medley relay in 3:27.67.
- Connor Xu placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:25.08.
- Slowey got his second victory of the day when he clocked a 1:46.86 in the 200-yard freestyle, with teammate Cameron Dolly close behind in second in 1:47.80.
- Luke Dinges came in second in the 100-yard backstroke in 52.80.
- Tully Njoroge got the Tars their third win of the day with a winning time of 59.03 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Dinges earned his second runner-up finish with a 22.43 in the 50-yard freestyle.
- Dolly got another second-place result, clocking a 47.83 in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Murphy touched the wall in 2:00.01 in the 200-yard backstroke to finish second.
- Slowey earned victory number three with a time of 2:10.38 in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Njoroge taking second in 2:11.56.
- Dinges broke through to get his first individual win of the day in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 51.74.
- The team of Dolly, Ben Robertson, Richard Riley, and Michael Tucker closed the day with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.65.
