WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 15, 2021) – A deflected goal by freshman
Alex Holt and brace from freshman
Valen Bargagna led Rollins to a 3-0 non-conference win over the Saint Leo Lions, under the lights at Barker Family Stadium. With the victory the Tars improve to 3-1-1, while Saint Leo remains winless at 0-4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half
- The Tars controlled play early, registering a number of golden chances in the opening moments of the game.
- Rollins breakthrough came in the 18th minute. The Tars earned a free kick just on the edge of the box, and a creative set piece put Rollins in front. Nazar Tsaruk played the ball quickly to a waiting Jari Polm at the top of the box. The junior midfielder blasted a shot toward net. Holt got a piece of the ball and redirected it home beyond a helpless Saint Leo keeper, for his first Rollins point.
- Overall, the Tars outshot Saint Leo by a tally of seven shots to zero in the first half.
Second Half
- The Tars continued to create the most dangerous chances for a majority of the second 45 minutes.
- Rollins doubled their lead in the 55th minute. Georgios Koliniatis drove a cross low across the face of goal. Jonah Adomakoh got a touch and the ball fell kindly to Bargagna, who tapped it in for his first score in Blue and Gold.
- Bargagna put his stamp on the match in the 83rd minute. The freshman cut inside on a pair of Lion defenders and unleashed a left-footed rocket that blazed its way into the top corner of the goal.
- The second 45 minutes saw a lot of physical play with nine yellow cards being issued in the match.
COACH SAYS:
"I thought it was a very competitive game. We are very pleased for Alex and Valen, two freshman, to get their first goals for Rollins. The third goal was special! We are pleased with the improvement of the team as we move toward conference play." - Rollins Head Men's Soccer Coach
Keith Buckley
