Dunn and Sudol Spark Rollins Victory

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 3, 2021) – The Tars earned their first victory of the season, behind career days for faceoff man Kyle Sudol and attackman Ryan Dunn.  Rollins defeated the visiting Saint Leo Lions 15-13 on the turf at Barker Family Stadium.  The win moves the Tars to 1-1 overall, and 1-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.  The Lions fall to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in SSC action.
 
Ryan Dunn found the back of the net seven times for Rollins, setting a school record for goals in a game.  He also tallied one assist, matching his career high with eight total points.  Connor Coltharp, Bailey Pringle, and Blake Buell each added a pair of scores, while Pringle led the team with two assists.  Kyle Sudol dominated at the faceoff dot, going 22-28 on the draws, while collecting 10 groundballs.  Justin Isenhour forced a pair of turnovers and added a goal from his defensive position.  Cody Iserman made 14 saves for the Tars, playing the full 60 minutes between the pipes.
 
Evan Wray paced the Lions with four goals, and added one assist for a total of five points.  Matt Shand dished out a game high four helpers.  Gunnar Luckoski made eight saves for the Lions, picking up the loss in net.
 
Ryan Dunn started the scoring early, finding the back of the net on the Tars' first two possessions.  Blake Buell would score Rollins third, before a spectacular diving effort from Connor Coltharp would cap a Rollins 4-0 run, in the first five minutes of the contest.  The Lions would tally the next two to make the score 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.
 
The Lions would pull within one, at 4-3, before Dunn's hat trick restored Rollins two goal cushion.  Justin Isenhour would take the ball coast-to-coast to make the score 6-3.  The Lions would net one more goal before the Tars got tallies from Bailey Pringle and Coltharp to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
 
The Tar's man-down unit killed a vital penalty at the beginning of the second half, and Rollins turned that momentum into a 9-4 advantage with Buell's second goal.  The Lions would tally the next two goals to cut the lead back to three, at 9-6.  But Rollins would end the period with a pair of goals of their own.  Dunn found the back of the net to make the score 10-6, then Grant Long cut through the heart of the Lion defense to bury a shot, and make the score 11-6 after three quarters.
 
The Lions turned up their intensity in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the net seven times, but it was not enough to overcome Dunn, who kept Rollins on top with three goals in the fourth quarter.  Bailey Pringle added one score, while Cody Iserman made four key saves down the stretch to seal the victory for the Tars.
