Game 1: Rollins 2 Palm Beach Atlantic 0
The Tars were able to grab their 13th win of the season, taking the opener at Simpson Field, with another stellar pitching performance from
Ashley Worrell. The junior tossed a complete game, four hit shutout.
Ashley Troutman led the offense, going 2-4 with a run scored.
Taylor Waters went 1-3 with a run and the game's lone RBI.
Worrell sat down the first six batters she faced over the first two frames. To get the scoring started, the Tars were able to manufacture their first run in the top of the third inning.
Ashley Troutman got on base by singling to left field, then advanced to second on a fielder's choice. The lead-off batter then stole third.
Taylor Waters dropped a picture perfect sacrifice bunt to push Troutman across home plate, making the score 1-0.
Waters helped Rollins tally an insurance run in the fifth, capitalizing on sloppy Sailfish play. The freshman singled to second base before advancing to second after a passed ball. Heads up baserunning allowed the outfielder to turn for third ,where she slid into the bag safely. She then got up and saw the outfielder struggling with the overthrow from the catcher and she bolted for home, giving the Tars their second run of the game.
The lead was more than enough for Worrell. The Oviedo native face pressure in the seventh, as the Sailfish loaded the bases with two outs, but Worrell struck out Glatzack looking to seal the win.
Game 2: Rollins 1, Palm Beach Atlantic 0
Ali Shenefield also continues to showcase dominate pitching performances. The sophomore scattered five hits in a complete game shutout, while fanning 10 Sailfish, in Rollins sweep-clinching 1-0 win. Cambria Arturo tossed a no-hitter for Palm Beach Atlantic, giving up just one, unearned, run, to come up short in the pitcher duel.
Neither pitcher gave an inch through the first six innings. Shenefield retired seven in row from the first through third frames, and another nine consecutively between the third and sixth.
The Tars, meanwhile, could not touch Cambria Arturo, going down in order for the first six frames. Rollins finally got a baserunner when shortstop
Ashley Troutman reached on a throwing error. The speedy sophomore circled the bags, and reached third on the mistake.
Chelsea Peace then hit a sacrifice fly out to left field pushing Troutman home without Rollins recording a hit.
Shenefield, much like her counterpart in the first contest, faced a stiff test in the bottom of the seventh. The Sailfish loaded the bases, again with two outs, but Shenefield registered her tenth strikeout to send the game final.
