FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 13, 2021) - In their first action of the 2021 season, Rollins Women's Tennis fell on the road against the #4 Nova Southeastern Sharks 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Nova Southeastern earned the first point of the day by winning two of three doubles matches. Karolina Snita and Diane Follen-Arbalet got the best of
Polina Vlasova and
Eve Wasil on court three, winning 6-0. The Sharks then clinched the point on court two when Daniela Obando and Isabella Lowrey defeated
Kaitlynn Groves and
Maria McKay 6-2. On a positive note, the new tandem of
Alexandra Borg and
Georgina Groth earned a win against Natalie Espinal and Chantal Nosievici in number one doubles.
The Sharks continued to dominate the day in singles play as they swept all six courts.
Georgina Groth had the top performance for the Tars in singles two, taking All-American Karolina Snita to three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 5-10. Two of the six matches were played by Rollins freshmen making their first career college appearances. On court five,
Eve Wasil fell to Follen-Arbalet 6-2, 6-3. In singles six action,
Maria McKay played strong before falling just short against Celia Montero, 6-3, 6-4.
The Tars will only have a day to rest before hitting the road again. They will be busy next week as they travel to Lynn on Monday March 15. On Wednesday, March 17, the Tars will have their first home match when they host Embry-Riddle in Winter Park.
