Tars Secure Fifth Seed with Season Finale Win

Rollins downed the Florida Southern Mocs by a score of 1-0

WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 6, 2021) – The Tars secured the victory in their regular season finale, sending the senior class out in style with a 1-0 victory over Florida Southern.  With the win Rollins moves into the fifth seed, and will visit fourth seeded Tampa in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.  The Tars end the regular season with a record of 7-6-3 overall and, 5-2-3 in SSC play.  The Mocs end their campaign at 5-9-2 overall, and 2-6-2 against conference foes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half
  • The Tars grabbed the lead early in the contest.  Meghan Mosley slid a pass to Tayla Duffy, who made a move to her left, and fired a low shot, off her left foot, onto the inside of the post, and into the back of the net.
  • Rollins dominated the possession game for the remainder of the half, but were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities.
Second Half
  • Rollins continued to create more chances throughout the second period, firing off ten shots, against the Mocs two.
  • As time wound down Florida Southern upped their pressure, but the Tars' defensive unit was up to the task, preventing the Mocs from finding an equalizer.
