Rollins will play the Montevallo Falcons on Friday at 2:30 pm. They will then have a doubleheader on Saturday, facing Christian Brothers at 10 am, followed by West Alabama at 4:45 pm.

Rollins Tars
3-15 (0-11 SSC)
12th Place, SSC

Rollins will look to turn their season around by facing three non-conference opponents. The Tars have struggled in conference play this season, but historically have done well during the crossover event. Rollins went 2-1 in the 2019 tournament, scoring victories against West Alabama and Shorter College. Riley Spurlin has led the team in kills from day one, currently sitting at 177 on the season. She has received help from freshman Lana Gerard (142 kills), and more recently, Andie Baldridge who had a twelve kill effort against Florida Southern last week. In addition to her attacks at the net, Gerard has tallied 29 service aces this season, which ranks as the second-most in the SSC. Senior Rebecca Kuehn is the table setter for the Tars, with 411 assists to her name. Defensively, Emma Begley and Alexis Yeager have led the frontline with 51 blocks each. Charlie Durbin, who is one of only two Tars to play in every set this year, has 268 digs to lead the Tars.

Montevallo Falcons
9-12 (3-6 GSC)
8th Place, GSC

Montevallo has stumbled as of late, dropping six of their last seven matches in GSC conference play. However, they rank in the Top 5 of the GSC as a team in a multitude of categories, including hitting percentage, kills, assists, blocks, and service aces. Evelina Teran has been an absolute force at the net, leading the conference in kills by a wide margin at 275. She has been set up mainly by Colton Thompson, who broke the 500 assist mark for the season in the Falcons' last match. Morgan Hoffman (57) and Allie Dishman (48) each rank in the Top 10 in the GSC in blocks.

Christian Brothers Buccaneers
2-19 (0-9 GSC)
12th Place, GSC

The Buccaneers come in to the crossover as the losers of 12 straight matches. Their two wins came on the same day, September 11, against Erskine and Fisk. Christian Brothers is near the bottom of each statistical category in the Gulf South. Their best effort comes from behind the service line, where they average 1.57 aces per set (7th in the GSC). Rollins will look to attack a defensive frontline that only musters 0.74 blocks per set on the year. Kalea Davis has had a nice season for the Bucs, ranking in the Top 10 in the conference for both assists (463, 8th) and service aces (26, 6th). CBU's top attacker is Tia Rizvi who has 169 kills to her name at a .179%. This will be the fourth straight crossover that matches the Tars against the Bucs, with Christian Brothers having won two of the last three.

West Alabama Lions
1-14 (1-8 GSC)
11th Place, GSC

The Lions have only seen action in 15 contests this year, with their lone victory coming against Christian Brothers on October 8th in a 3-0 win. Similar to the Bucs, West Alabama is last or second-to-last in almost every team category in the Gulf South. They strike at a .123%, and average 9.36 kills per set, while defensively they are giving up 14.12 kills per set. Nathalia Medeiros is the only Lion with more than 100 kills (141), and she also leads the team in attack percentage at .203. Amelia Johnigan is the top shot blocker, with 23 to her name. Rollins and West Alabama met at the crossover in 2019, with the Tars taking a 3-0 win.

The crossover event did not happen in 2020 due to the pandemic. In 2019, the SSC took 25 of the 33 matches, with four teams posting 3-0 records. Sixteen of the 25 victories were 3-0 sweeps. Stay tuned to RollinsSports.com and our social media channels for the latest scores and schedule updates.
