Tars and Eagles Split Points

Rollins remained unbeaten in Sunshine State Conference action with a 1-1 draw against #25 Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 13, 2021) – Rollins saw a five game winning streak stopped, but remained unbeaten in Sunshine State Conference action with a 1-1 draw against #25 Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.  The Tars now sit at 6-4-1 overall and 4-0-1 in SSC play.  The Eagles move to 5-3-2, and 3-2-1 against SSC opposition.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half
  • The Eagles got on the board early.  Grace Foyer headed in a Sofia Munthe Nilsson corner to give Embry-Riddle the lead.
  • Embry-Riddle continued to hold a slight edge in play throughout the first half, taking six shots against Rollins four, and earning four corner kicks to Rollins one.
Second Half
  • The Tars equalized in the 69th minute.  After a Noel Miller save and Rollins defensive stand, the Tars broke down the field.  Eventually, Meghan Mosley found herself in front of goal and converted her opportunity, making the score 1-1.
  • Rollins pressure in the second half led to ten shots for the Tars, of which five were on target, but only the one could find the net, as the match went to overtime.
First Overtime
  • Both teams had chances, but each keeper came up with save to keep the game knotted at 1-1 at the 100 minute mark
Second Overtime
  • The Tars controlled most of the play in the second extra period, hitting the post twice. But, the winner would not materialize and the game ended 1-1.
