Rollins Falters at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. (February 8, 2020) – Rollins' offense sputtered in the fourth quarter as the Tars suffered a 63-48 loss at Saint Leo Saturday night.

Rachel Lia netted 15 to pace Rollins (12-10, 5-9 SSC). Jaylyn Harrison scored 11 while Tianna Rosser tallied eight points and eight rebounds.

The Tars trailed just 42-39 heading into the fourth, but were outscored by the Lions 21-9 in the final frame.

Leo (11-12, 7-8 SSC) got 18 points from Amanda Ulrich and 12 from Alex Button. Four Lions scored in double figures.

Rollins shot 32 percent to Saint Leo's 40 percent night from the field. The Tars were stung by 24 turnovers to just 13 from Saint Leo.

After a slow start, the Tars ended the first on a 5-0 run and pulled to within 17-15 after the first 10 minutes.

Both teams went scoreless the first three minutes of the second before the offense started to get rolling.

Rollins trailed 30-26 at the half.

The Tars were looking at a 42-33 deficit with 3:17 to play in the third, but buckets from Lia and two free throws by Rachel Jablonski got Rollins to down just 42-39.

Rollins didn't hit from the field in the fourth until three minutes of play and then went on another two minute scoreless streak to trail 53-41 with 4:32 to play. Harrison hit from deep to cut the lead to single digit at the 4:16 mark, but that would be as close as Rollins could get the remainder of the evening.

Rollins is back in action on Wednesday, February 12 at Florida Southern. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Lakeland. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM WPRK.
