Rollins Walks it Off over Bucs; Worrell Tosses No Hitter

WINTER PARK, FLA. (February 28, 2020) – Rollins kept its undefeated season alive in dramatic fashion by defeating the Barry Buccaneers 1-0 Friday night to open a three-game Sunshine State Conference Series.

Ashley Worrell tossed a no hitter and only allowed two base runners while striking out 11. Tyler Jo Colby had a career day with a double and walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Rollins improved to 15-0 overall and 7-0 in the SSC. Barry drops to 8-13, 1-6 in conference.

Recap: Rollins 1, Barry 0
Pitching and defense was the key to success for both teams. For the Tars, Worrell stepped up big, pitching all seven innings, striking out 10 of the first 11 batters she faced and never allowing a runner past first. The sophomore posted the 54th no-hitter in program history, her third and the Tars second this season.

Tyler Jo Colby was the star in the batter's box. The Port Orange, Florida native went 2-3 at the plate with a double and a walk off homerun. The homer was her first one of the season, and couldn't have come at a better time for the Tars. Going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tars were tied with Barry 0-0. Tyler stepped into the batter's box with confidence, and delivered exactly what the Tars needed, leading off the seventh and drilling a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence.

Lindsay Gehring also had a great outing, ending up 2-3 at the plate.

The Tars are back on their home field Saturday, February 29 against Barry for a doubleheader to end the series.
