Rollins Posts Convincing Win over Lynn

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 19, 2020) – Brooks Cluxton tallied a double-double and four Tars scored in double-figures as Rollins thumped Lynn 89-71 Wednesday night.

The win went a long way in cementing the Tars spot in the postseason, moving to 13-12 overall and 7-10 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Fighting Knights drop to 10-13, 6-11 SSC.

Jakobi Bonner was the top scorer with 24 points. The senior went 10-of-15 from the field and hit three 3-pointers. Dayton Gumm added 18 points, including a handful of thrilling dunks.

Cluxton tied his career-high with 16 points and notched a new career best with 16 rebounds. He shot 6-of-7 form the field and 4-of-5 at the stripe. Trevor Recio was the fourth Tar with a big night, scoring 10.

Jordan Allen scored 17 with nine rebounds to lead Lynn. Christian Peevy added 15 and Brandon Bornelus 12.

A fast paced start put the Tars on top 15-8 after the first eight minutes. A Gumm three-pointer later in the first sparked a 10-0 Rollins run and gave the home team a 25-11 lead with 9:35 to play in the first.

Rollins continued to pull away in the first and went up 40-20 until an Allen buzzer beater cut the Tars lead to 40-22 at the break.

Connor Mckim gave Rollins a 43-22 lead early in the second, but Lynn hung around and got as close at 57-43 with 11:44 to play. Consecutive three-pointers by Bonner and Recio got things back rolling for the Tars and Lynn wouldn't get any closer than 16 for the rest of the game.

The Tars shot 57 percent in the game and held Lynn to just 40 percent from the field. The Tars won on glass 38-30 with both teams committing nine turnovers.

Rollins next hosts Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, February 22 in the final home game of the season. Tip off is set for 4 p.m. at Warden Arena. Fans can check out the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM WPRK.
