Hatters Top Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 18, 2020) - The Rollins Tars suffered their second straight loss on Tuesday evening, falling to the visiting Stetson Hatters by a score of 7-0.

It was a tough day on the court for Rollins as they were swept by their Division-I opponent. Stetson took the doubles point to start the day by winning all three matchups. Marie Debruyn and Polina Vlasova put up the best fight out of flight three, dropping their match by a score of 6-3. In flight two, Natalia Cordon made her collegiate debut alongside fellow freshman Georgina Groth, but it was spoiled with a 6-0 loss. In the first position, Ola Durzynski and Alexandra Borg fell by a score of 6-2.

Stetson managed to win all six singles matches as well. The most competitive match came out of flight one where Borg battled Stetson's Danel Ashirova. Their first set went 7-5 before Ashirova was able to close things out 6-2 in the second half. Vlasova also played to a respectable score, losing to Noa Cohen 6-4, 6-2.

The Tars will have a chance to bounce back on Thursday when they host the visiting Bates College Bobcats. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex on campus.
