Tars Get Stung by SCAD

SAVANNAH, GA.(January 4, 2020)- Rollins men's swim team fought hard against the NAIA top-ranked Savannah College of Art & Design, but fell short for their first dual meet of the 2020 season. The Tars came up short to SCAD by a score of 178-84. 

Starting off the meet, Alex Norcini, Connor Xu, Asa Marvel and Christian Huber finished runner-up in the 200-yard medley relay, stopping the clock at 1:36.00. 

Brandon Nord took his first victory of the season in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:44.71. 

Norcini finished with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:46.62. The junior also finished third in the 100-yard backstroke (53.96) and the 400 IM (4:16.72). 

In the 1000-yard freestyle, Xu placed third with a time of 10:01.22. The freshman also finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.35). Huber finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.14) and also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.03.  

Elliot Wylie with the runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.80. Wylie added a finished fourth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (55.91). Asa Marvel finished third in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.45). Cruse Sweeney finished runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.88. Teammate Andrew Relihan also swam in the 50-yard freestyle finishing, third (22.56). 

To end the day Sweeney, Relihan, Marvel and Huber finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.06.

Rollins will return in the Alfond Pool at home Friday, January 17 against Universidad Interamerican de Puerto Rico at 3 p.m. They finish the home season the following day, hosting Lynn on Saturday January 18 at noon.
