Tars Downed by Hot Shooting Fighting Knights

BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 15, 2020) – Rollins couldn't keep pace with Lynn's hot start Wednesday and fell 72-58.

Jaylyn Harrison poured in 15 points to lead Rollins (10-6, 3-5 SSC). Paris Sharpe posted a second double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Lia also netted 12.

Lynn (11-5, 6-2 SSC) shot 55 percent in the first half while the Tars hit just 25 percent from the field over the first 20 minutes. The disparity led to Rollins falling behind 21-9 after the first quarter and 47-25 at the half.

The Fighting Knights got a game-high 25 points from Taylor Jones. Uloma Enyogasi added 15 points and Loie Webb 12.

Denise Daniels gave Rollins a 5-4 lead with a bucket four minutes into the game. Lynn then went on a 16-2 run over the next five minutes and put the Tars down 20-7. Harrison scored to break the cold streak, but a Lynn free throw in the final seconds of the quarter had the Tars looking at a 12-point hole.

Rollins fell behind by 20 early in the second and went down 43-18 with two minutes left in the half.

The Tars trailed 47-25 at intermission.

Both teams went scoreless the first four three minutes of the second half until back-to-back scores from Sharpe got the Tars rolling. Lia hit from deep at the 6:17 mark and got the Tars to within 48-32. A 5-0 Fighting Knights spurt put the spread back at 21 before Rollins chipped away and pulled to within 59-45 heading into the fourth.

Rollins cut the deficit to 13 on three occasions in the final quarter, but each time the Knights answered.

The Tars shot 33 percent for the game while Lynn ended the day 48 percent from the field. The Tars outrebounded their hosts 38-31 and committed nine turnovers to forcing 12.

Rollins returns home on Saturday, January 18 to host Eckerd in Warden Arena. Tip is set for 2 p.m. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM WPRK.
