Knights Defeat Tars in Battle

BOCA RATON, Fla. (September 28, 2019) - Rollins gave Lynn University all they could handle on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as the Tars fell in four sets to the Sunshine State Conference leaders, 27-25, 24-26, 26-24, 25-16.

Rollins looked like a different team compared to the squad that faced off against Nova Southeastern on the previous day. The Tars came out focused, recording 13 kills on a .217 percentage with only three attack errors in the first set. It was a tight one, but Lynn eventually won by a score of 27-25. The Tars followed that with one of their best sets of the season. The team posted 12 kills with only one attack error at a .379 clip en route to their 26-24 win in set two.

The third set saw the two teams battle into extra time for the third consecutive set, with Lynn coming out on top, 26-24. Rollins did a good job forcing six attack errors from the Knights in set three, but could not come through late to earn the point. In set four, Lynn's attack proved to be too much as they won comfortably, 25-16.

Harper Smith looked energized, tallying 14 kills at a .244 rate to lead the Tars. Riley Spurlin and Alexis Yeager each chipped in with eight kills a piece.

The Tars move to 4-8 on the season, 1-3 in Sunshine State Conference play. They will have a chance to bounce back with a pair of home games against Eckerd and Florida Southern next week. On Thursday October 3rd, they host the Tritons on Colorful and Courageous night at the Alfond Sports Center. More info about this event will be released on Monday. Rollins will then host the Mocs on Saturday, October 5th at 4 pm.
