Sydney Willis Starts NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 12, 2019) – Rollins freshman Sydney Willis kicked off her first NCAA Division II National Championship on Wednesday, swimming the 1000-yard freestyle.

The Raleigh, North Carolina native posted a time of 10:22.12 in the prelims and finished 27th. She was three seconds behind her qualifying time, but finished three places higher than her seed. 

Willis will swim the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 1650-yard freestyle the rest of the championship. 

UIndy is serving as host of the event at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Fans can watch the action at NCAA.com.
