No. 21 Rollins – 2
No. 4 Lynn – 7
WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 14, 2018) – The No. 4 Lynn Fighting Knights proved too much for a valiant Tars team, as Rollins fell 7-2 in their regular season finale. With the loss the Tars will now enter the postseason with a record of 13-8, and 6-4 in Sunshine State Conference action. Lynn, who entered the day second in the SSC, conclude their season at 17-3, and 9-1 in conference play.
Rollins fell into a hole early, as the Fighting Knights took all three doubles matches. The first court featured a marquee match-up between the No. 1 doubles pair in the country, Klaudia Boczova and Eliska Petrackova of Lynn, and the No. 17 duo of Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg from Rollins. The Tars would take an early lead, but the Lynn partnership would storm back to take a 9-7 win, and seal to doubles sweep for the Fighting Knights.
Lynn would take the first two doubles decisions, clinching the overall victory. After two more matches fell to the Fighting Knights, Borg picked up the Tars first point of the day. The sophomore recovered from a first set loss, battling through the second until her opponent, Diana Bogolii, the No. 70 player in the nation, was forced to retire in the midst of the comeback. Katie Dyson would then close the match with a marathon, three set, win in the second position. The sophomore downed Federica Mordegan 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.
The Tars will now wait to find out their fate in the SSC Tournament, which will take place at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida from Thursday, April 19, through, Saturday, April 21.
