WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 3, 2018) – The Tars opened their Baseball Week slate with a victory over Nyack, 9-3.
The Tars improve to 9-7 overall, while Nyack falls to 5-4-1 on the campaign.
Brian Brooker (3B) – 2-3, 1 run scored, 1 walk
Nick Santucci (LF) – 1-2, 2 runs scored, HR
AJ Chacon picked up his first win of the season I the Tars victory. The sophomore tossed five innings, allowing only two hits, while compiling five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Peterson needed no introduction to get things started for the Tars, registering a three-run home run to give the Tars a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Tars offense continued to roll when Reidy hit a sacrifice fly deep into center field, plating Billy Lamm. Isaiah Russell and Brundage would also score, to bring the Tars lead to 6-0.
- Nyack answered with a run of their own in the top of the third inning, when Anthony Torreulla got picked off, but allowed Herman Alvarado to score, Tars still led 6-1.
- Santucci popped a dinger over the right field wall, extending the Tars lead to 7-1.
- Grant Ashline would also record a homer in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Brooker in the process.
- Nyack pushed back late, scoring two more runs, but the Rollins would take the contest 9-3.

• Both Breen and Brundage have hit safely in 15 of 16 games this season
• Peterson increase his home run total to six on the year
• Head Coach Jon Sjogren is 329-306-3 in his 13th season at the helm of Rollins baseball

The Tars will turn around and play Assumption to continue Baseball Week at Alfond Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, March 8 at 2:00 pm.
